Yeo Jin Goo (Orange Marmalade), Kim Kang Woo (Golden Cross), and Gong Seung Yeon (My Shy Boss) star in a sci-fi drama that shows no matter how much humans may change, utopia is still light years away. When an alien invades earth and creates a perfect world, a crime detective from the future must figure out what happened to a university student in the past, so they can both save their futures.
The year is 2017. Code name: Beta Project. Aliens have invaded earth. They believe humans should be controlled or will drive themselves to extinction. The humans, as humans do, try to take advantage of them. Meanwhile, as college student Kim Woo Jin (Yeo Jin Goo) attempts to investigate some mysterious incidents, suspicious deaths occur all over campus, and his brother goes missing. Something is happening that should not have happened.
The year is 2037. Code name: Grand New World. The alien invasion has succeeded. The world has been divided into two earths. “Smart Earth” is a world without emotion, free of human ills like crime and disease. “General Earth” is a lawless wasteland, filled with emotion and plague. Detective Kim Joon Hyuk (Kim Kang Woo) investigates a murder in "Smart Earth," where emotions are controlled. This murder should not have happened.
And then there is Han Jung Yun (Gong Seung Yeon). She goes to Kim Woo Jin’s college and is also trying to figure out what happened to her friend. And there is something very weird: she is the link between these two events, 20 years apart. This is a crime that should not have happened. Now the two men--and the woman caught between them--must figure out what is going on, and save their respective presents. Can they solve the mystery that destroyed their world, or are some circles always meant to return to zero?
