講述了朝鮮第21代王英祖的生母也是第19代王素宗的后宮、賤民出身的淑嬪崔氏其波瀾萬丈起伏跌宕的人生和兒子英祖大王戲劇般的成長過程。
由於父親是驗屍人，同伊（韓孝珠飾）從小就從屍檢中，對科學的分析有自己獨到的見解。同伊進入掌樂院（宮中音樂院）學習音樂，她的聰慧伶俐得到肅宗（池珍熙飾）的肯定，在宮中監察部（宮中監視不正之風的機構）中發揮出卓越的才能。
在西人和南人勢力反复執政和實權更迭的肅宗時代，朝鮮歷史上首次以宮中最下層宮女的身份被賜為內命府最高品階的女人—淑嬪崔氏，小小年紀就深感自己身處的位置和身份的極限，總是不失沉著和賢明，為保護有著賤民出身身份的兒子延礽君（後來的英祖大王）在生存和死亡相互交織的朋黨政治中隱藏自己，睿智地安身立命保存了自己和兒子性命，用自己的愛和鞭策把兒子培養成王使其登上王位。
This TV biopic traces the tumultuous life of Lady Choi Sook-bin, who was born as a lowly commoner but entered the royal palace to become a royal concubine where she shone ever so brilliantly. The life of her son, who is fathered by King Sook-jong, is also depicted as he transforms into the next king!
Lady Choi Sook-bin gingerly and wisely maneuvers through the deadly political infighting in the royal courts in order to survive and protect her son, who was fathered by the king. She raises her son into a well-balanced and educated person though strict discipline.
Dong Yi Part 2/3 consist of episode 21-40:
Set during the reign of King Sukjong in the Joseon dynasty, the story focuses on Dong Yi, a water maid who gains the trust of Queen Inhyeon and later the favour of the king when he is moved by her prayers for the health of the Queen during the court disputes caused by Jang Hee Bin. Dong Yi becomes a concubine with the rank of sook-bin and bears a son who will later become the 21st king of Joseon, Yeongjo.
